What We Believe
You and God
We believe that every member has equal access to God and every person is called by God to use his or her spiritual gifts, talents, and skills to serve God. We strive to match people to ministries that they are designed for. KFBC seeks to understand and stay in touch with our cultural needs and trends.
Through Bible studies, small groups, and corporate worship, KFBC provides a community where people can connect with other individuals in a similar life-stage, develop a relationship with those individuals, minister to each other, learn about Jesus Christ, discover ways to serve God, and worship Him in both intimate and large gatherings.
- To share in the power of the Holy Spirit the Gospel of Jesus Christ with every person by becoming a mission-minded church attuned to the spiritual and physical needs of humankind.
- To proclaim Jesus Christ, as our Lord and Savior through various outreach ministries, an active evangelistic witness, regular worship services, faithful instruction in the Word, and above all else to honor Christ.
- To assist families and individuals to grow in Christian maturity.
- To be a community of Christians providing comfort, edification, acceptance, forgiveness, and to strengthen everyone with all the material and spiritual resources God has placed at our disposal.
- To be a church whose purpose is to be Christ-like in our daily living by emphasizing total commitment to life, personality, and possessions to the lordship of Christ.
The Holy Bible was written by divinely inspired men and it is the record of God’s revelation of Himself to humankind. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. It reveals the principles by which God judges us; and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. The criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ.
There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. To him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
God the Father
God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
God the Son
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself the demands and necessities of human nature and identifying Himself completely with humankind but without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of humans from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, partaking of the nature of God and of humans, and in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and humans. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.
God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables humans to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. He calls humans to the Savior, and effects regeneration. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the assurance of God to bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole person, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.
“There is never a point at which you are any less saved than you were the first moment Christ saved you. Just because you were grumpy at breakfast doesn’t mean you were condemned at breakfast. When you lost your temper yesterday, you didn’t lose your salvation. Your name doesn’t disappear and reappear in the book of life according to your moods and actions. You were saved, not because of what you do, but because of what Christ did.”
